If your child attends LMS or plans to attend LMS in the near future, click here to sign up for the Band class.

Band is an elective class and includes a beginning, intermediate, and advanced ("concert") level. All bands get to perform in concerts on campus. The Intermediate and Concert Band enjoy trips to adjudicated music festivals and public performances, and the Concert Band also performs for guests at the Disneyland Resort.

We also have a Jazz Band which is comprised of members from the Intermediate and Concert Bands. They rehearse during homeroom and on Tuesdays after school.

Lawrence Middle School offers three levels of band and an extracurricular jazz band.

Beginning Band is for anyone interested in learning to play a musical instrument. We start at the very beginning, learning how to assemble and hold the instrument, how to read music, and how to play the notes. By the end of the first semester, they will be playing recognizable melodies and full band arrangements in a concert for you to watch!

Intermediate Band continues the development of musical skills, introducing more challenging repertoire and techniques. In addition to playing in school concerts, this band travels to adjudicated music festivals where they (and other schools) will be judged on their performance and gain advice from an accomplished expert in music education.

Concert Band is the advanced ensemble made up of students who have been in the music program all three years or who possess extraordinary musical talent. The band plays in school concerts and adjudicated music festivals, and also does enriching public performances including high school football games and theme parks!

Jazz Band is an extracurricular band for students concurrently enrolled in Concert Band or Intermediate Band. Members are selected by audition and rehearse during homeroom as well as after school on Tuesdays. They perform in the school concerts as well as command performances representing the school.
