Title IX Notification

Federal Title IX and state law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, or gender, which includes prohibiting acts of sexual harassment. Sex discrimination/sexual harassment is illegal. The Title IX Complaint Managers for our school are: Mrs. Whiteley,  Assistant Principals Office, Chuck Arballo, Counseling Office, and Thane Opfell, Assistant Principals Office. Greetings, Lawrence Families and Community! Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

 

We are pleased that you will be attending Lawrence Middle School & Gifted/Highly Gifted Magnet for the 2017-18 school year.

 

Please review the orientation schedule below and plan to attend the appropriate session:

6th Grade and New Students

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017

·         9 AM to 11 AM

      OR

·         2 PM to 4 PM

 

Returning Students

Thursday, August 10th, 2017

·         9 AM to 11 AM

      OR

·         2 PM to 4 PM

 

During the Orientation, you may purchase PE clothes, receive locker assignments and textbooks, as well as purchase the 2017-18 Yearbook at a discounted rate. You will also be asked to fill out the 2017-18 school forms.  Please bring along a pen for this task.  Additionally, Youth Services will have applications available for the after-school programs.

 

School begins at 7:56 AM every day.  Dismissal is at 3:00 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Dismissal is at 1:30 PM every Tuesday.

 

The first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.  Dismissal will be at 1:30 PM. On the first day, Advisory classroom assignments by grade level will be posted at the main entrance on Variel Avenue, at 7 AM.  Students in Grade 6 will report to the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) and sit with their Advisory class.  Teachers will then escort them to the appropriate classrooms where they will receive their class schedules.  Students in Grades 7 and 8 will report to their Advisory class where they will receive their class schedules.

 

If you will not be attending Lawrence Middle School, please notify the Attendance Office as soon as possible at 818-678-7928.
